Kia Syros Unveiled: Revolutionary SUV Redefining Comfort

Kia has recently unveiled the Syros, a subcompact SUV positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in its lineup. The Syros made its debut on December 19, 2024, with production set to commence in January 2025 at Kia’s facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

Design and Features: The Syros showcases a bold design inspired by Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, featuring vertical headlamps, L-shaped rear lights, and Kia’s signature starmap LED lighting. Notable interior features include a 76.2 cm (30-inch) Trinity Panoramic Display panel, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and first-in-segment rear sliding, reclining, and ventilated seats. The SUV also offers Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with 16 autonomous safety features, enhancing driver and passenger safety.

Engine Options: The Syros is available with two engine options:

  • A 1.0-liter Smartstream turbo petrol engine producing 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
  • A 1.5-liter CRDi diesel engine delivering 116 PS and 250 Nm of torque, available with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Pricing and Variants: While official pricing is yet to be announced, estimates suggest:

  • The entry-level HTK variant may start around ₹9 lakh.
  • The top-tier HTX+ (O) variant could be priced above ₹14.75 lakh. Bookings are scheduled to open on January 3, 2025, with deliveries expected to commence in February 2025.

Electric Variant: Kia plans to introduce an all-electric version of the Syros in early 2026. This electric model is expected to share its platform with the Hyundai Inster EV and may offer a range between 300 km to 355 km on the WLTP cycle.
